Virginia Roberts could sue HRH Prince Andrew in a New York court, according to The Mail on Sunday.

Prince Andrew could be sued in US court by his accuser Virginia Roberts, according to a report from The Mail on Sunday.

Ms Roberts, who claims she was forced to have sex with the prince by convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein when she was just 17, could file a multi-million-pound civil action in New York as soon as next week .

A source said: ‘It could be devastating for Andrew. If he chooses to fight him and is deposed [forced to give evidence], then these depositions could end up being made public. If he ignores it, he could be found guilty in absentia, which would be a disaster for public relations.”

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, his lawyer David Boies said the bomb trial “would be based on his loan to Prince Andrew for sex by Jeffrey Epstein and [her] be under 18 ′.

Boies added that the lawsuit would include allegations of “inappropriate sexual violations, physical and emotional distress” and would include a claim for ‘substantial’ damages.

Andrew has been roped into an international storm surrounding the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein over the last year. Epstein, already a convicted sex offender, was arrested last summer on charges relating to the trafficking of young women and girls — but he killed himself in jail before his trial. Andrew, who became friends with Epstein in around 1999, has denied any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes, and there is no indication that he is guilty of any wrongdoing himself.

Buckingham Palace had previously issued a statement saying: “It is categorically denied that the Duke of York had any form of contact or sexual relationship with Virginia Roberts. Any claim to the contrary is false and unfounded.

Filing a civil action against the Duke in America will almost certainly cause enormous embarrassment for the Royal Family, as lawyers will seek to question him under oath about his sex life, possibly forcing him to produce texts, emails and private letters for the court to peruse.

A defamation lawsuit, filed by Ms Roberts in 2015 against Ghislaine Maxwell, ended in an undisclosed settlement.

Epstein hanged himself in prison in 2019 pending trial on sex trafficking charges.

Ms Maxwell, 59, was arrested last July and faces trial in November for allegedly recruiting underage girls for Epstein and has pleaded not guilty to all counts.
