LA LIGA Fans Could Possibly Be Back Inside Football Stadiums By May 8 Or 9

It was speculated today, Tuesday 27, by ‘El Larguero’ of Cadena SER, that football fans could possibly be allowed back into stadiums in line with the end of the current state of alarm, which is scheduled to end on May 9, which is matchday 35 in Primera (Premier League).

Talks are reportedly taking place between officials of La Liga and the Ministry of Health, headed by Carolina Darias, after previous requests to allow a small percentage of fans into the two Copa del Rey finals in La Cartuja in Sevilla, on April 3 and 17, were refused.

With the vaccine rollout now more widespread, and coronavirus numbers seemingly falling, La Liga has once again approached the Ministry of Health about the prospect of fans being allowed back in, although a similar request by the Basque authorities was turned down flat.

María Jesús Montero, the government spokesperson said, “Right now we are not in a position to confirm any question, but we are in a position to know that work is being done in those environments, reviewing it, just as in sports matters, in cultural matters of holding mass events, all these issues that were pending that the vaccination levels reached a certain threshold”.

Adding, “The Government will always act on the subject of the public in sporting events in relation to what is dictated by the technical and health authorities”.

Last weekend’s Conde de Godó tennis tournament, was played in front of 1000 spectators at the Real Club de Tenis in Barcelona, and there is the hope of fans soon being allowed back into the ACB Basketball League matches.

Matchday 35 sees some huge confrontations taking place between the clubs at the top of La Liga, Real Madrid playing Seville at the Alfredo Di Stéfano, and Barça versus Atlético at the Camp Nou, which given the magnitude of the matches, deserves at least a maximum of 5,000 spectators to be able to attend, as reported by diariosur.es.
