French Riot Police Clash With Security Bill Protesters in Paris.

French citizens took to the streets of Paris once today, Saturday, again to protest against a bill that punishes those who release photos and videos identifying police officers, something critics say is a major challenge to press freedom.

As protesters marched near the Place de la Republique in Paris, police also took to the streets in riot gear, and several clashes between demonstrators and officers took place. Video credit: @Gerrrty- Twitter.

At around 5 pm, an hour before the start of the overnight 6-6 curfew now in place as a measure against the coronavirus, clashes broke out between a group of around 50 youths and police.

After being pelted with projectiles, the police used water cannon to clear the square. The Paris prosecutors office said 26 people had been detained.

Saturday’s demonstrations are only the latest protests against the security bill, which would fine offenders thousands and possibly land them behind bars for up to a year. Rallies in Marseille, Paris, Lyon, and other cities descended into violence in December, as protesters launched projectiles at riot police, and vehicles and businesses were vandalized.

In response to the protests, government officials announced they would rewrite Article 24, which takes aim at photos and videos of officers and find a more balanced approach.

Yep and we have the ley mordaza,, which was introduced some years ago and does the same. We are not allowed to film police going about their duties. now ask yourself why that is? What possible logical reason is there to do that? It just protects those who are corrupt or who like beating people first and asking questions afterwards. Of course the lying socialists said they would repeal this very orwellian law but that never happened did it? I believe it also makes it a crime to make jokes about the royal family. God forbid that anyone is allowed a sense of humour or to criticise institutions that are outdated and undemocratic

A more balanced approach would see taxpayers money being used for public safety against dangerous criminals instead of the drugged up corrupt covid police state being formed by out of control governments.

More unpleasant effects of the lockdown. The police in every country are using it as a way of exerting extreme violence against a mostly peaceful public.
There is an issue of state control creeping in to countries worldwide, I cite the Dutch protestors who were recently water jetted and injured for exercising their right to protest.
      Disgraceful!!!!
