Belgian Prime Minister quarantines himself after meeting Macron

BELGIAN Prime Minister, Alexander de Croo, quarantines himself after it was revealed that French President Emmanuel Macron had tested positive for COVID, who he had lunch with on Monday, December 14.

Alexander de Croo announced on Thursday, December 17, that he will take preventive measures and quarantine until he has the result of a PCR test after he met Macron for the last time on Monday at an event in Paris to mark the 60th anniversary of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.

“I will take a test today and, pending the result, I am quarantined,” said De Croo, who follows President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, into isolation, although he has since tested negative, after he had two separate meetings recently with the French head of state.

The 45-year-old also follows in the footsteps of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel and Portugal’s Prime Minister, António Costa, in COVID-related isolation.
