A YOUNG girl aged just eight-years-old was struck and killed by a stray bullet while doing her homework.
Timiya Andrews was taken off life support Wednesday, October 28 six days after being shot in the head at her home in Chicago.
The youngster was doing her schoolwork when a gunman on the street outside her home let off 16 rounds, with one bullet flying through the side of Timiya’s house and hitting her.
Police believe the shooter’s bullet likely ricocheted off another object before hitting Timiya. Afterwards, the young girl was rushed to the University of Chicago’s Comer Children’s Hospital, where she spent six days in intensive care, where attempts to save her life ended unsuccessfully.
Police are working round the clock on Timiya’s case, but do not have any leads or suspects. They do not believe the shooting was targeted.
