THREE Guardia Civil officers were shot at and wounded while investigating a marihuana plantation in Coto de Bornos, Cadiz.
ACCORDING to Europa Press, when the anti-drug trafficking team arrived at the illegal plantation in the rural area of the Cadiz sierra yesterday (Wednesday, September 2), they were immediately shot at, with three officers injured.
The officers were admitted to a nearby hospital, and while their injuries are said to be ‘considerable’, they are reportedly ‘out of danger’.
One of them remains in a ‘serious’ though not life-threatening condition due to a gunshot wound to the ankle.
After shots were fired, reinforcements arrived and one of the suspects was arrested.
An investigation has been launched to trace the others involved in firing at the police, and to ‘complete the anti-drug operation which was planned’.
The Guardia Civil has confirmed the incident and sent its best wishes to their colleagues wounded in the line of duty.
