Valencian Police given permission to make sure quarantine measures are being respected

In an extreme safety measure proposed by the Valencia City Council and the Ministry of Education, Local Police will be given the power to check people’s homes.

HOMES of families who have children set to return to school and that have had positive Covid-19 tests, will now be subject to random searches by police.

These measures are said to add an extra level of protection for school children.

In data which will be provided by the City Council and the Ministry of Education, the Department of Citizen Protection will be able to see any students and teachers that are potentially infected.

Local Police will be given the data and will be able to attend the houses of those who should be undertaking a 14-day quarantine period, as per government guidelines.

Starting September 7, Local Police will also be carrying out controls throughout the school day in order to make sure safety regulations are being complied.

They will monitor school entrances and will also effectively monitor possible cases requiring quarantine.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,541 new infections in the city of Valencia, making it the most affected municipality in the region.

To date, Covid-19 has killed 264 people in the capital of Turia, according to official statistics.
