Elderly man dies after launching himself from a window to escape a blaze at an old person’s home in Spain’s Granada.

Sadly, the man who was a resident of the home in Loja died on Monday night after a blaze broke out. The 60-year-old man had thrown himself from the window after the blaze began.

According to the 112 Andalucia emergency services, attached to the Ministry of the Presidency, Public Administration and Interior of the Junta, two workers were also evacuated and taken to hospital due to the fire. They needed to be treated due to smoke inhalation.

The shocking incident happened at shortly after 10pm on Monday night, August 30, and multiple calls were received by the coordination centre to say that both flames and smoke had been spotted at the old people’s home. The home is located on Calle San Francisco de Loja.

According to sources in the Guardia Civil, emergency services rushed to the scene of the fire where they discovered the lifeless body of the man who had thrown himself from the window of the room where the fire had broken out.

The fire was successfully extinguished by Loja firefighters and two workers were evacuated suffering from smoke inhalation.

In other Spanish news, shock as man dies near Vera naturist beach in Spain’s Almeria.

The shocking events happened on Monday, August 30. The man died suddenly, despite the best attempts of lifeguards, when he was near the naturist area of Vera Playa.

According to La Voz de Almeria, the man is thought to have been around 70 years old and at the time of the tragedy he was near a well-known beach bar at about 2pm in the afternoon. The man collapsed as he was heading from the beach bar towards the beach.
