The Minister of the Presidency, Public Administration and Interior, Elias Bendodo, has defended bullfighting.
Today, July 15, Bendodo said that bullfighting is “a great school of life” and that politicians and public managers “have to learn from the courage that bullfighters have.”
“The value must be listed higher in all areas of life,” he said, according to Junta de Andalucia.
Bendodo made the statements during his participation in the presentation of the bullfighting posters for August in La Malagueta, where he was accompanied by the president of the Malaga Provincial Council, Francisco Salad, the mayor of the capital, Francisco de la Torre, Lances de Futuro businessman, Jose Maria Garzon, as well as the bullfighters Pablo Aguado and Salvador Vega.
The councillor explained that the presentation of these posters has a special meaning after more than 15 months of the pandemic because resuming bullfighting in La Malagueta “is a sign that little by little we are resuming that normality”.
He also highlighted that the proceeds from the bullfights will go to the El Pimpi Foundation and the Little Sisters of the Poor.
Bendodo has defended that vaccination is the best way to recover normality and that advancing in the vaccination strategy must be linked to the gradual return of our routines, our traditions and our festivities, “but always from prudence.”
Noting that the priority of the regional government is vaccination and creating employment, he argued that the return of the popular festivals is synonymous with recovering jobs and stressed the support of the regional government to the world of bullfighting precisely because it is “a great source of wealth and employment generation”.
“We politicians and public managers have to learn from the bravery that bullfighters have,” said Bendodo, who has also praised other principles that the bullfights have such as sacrifice, perseverance, discipline or listening to the bulls.
“The world of the bull is a great school of life,” he concluded.
