Spanish Holidaymakers Opting for Staycations This Year

SPANISH holidaymakers are opting for summer staycations this year.

Belvilla, a holiday homes company, has said that the vaccination process and more optimism is prompting people to book their holidays for this summer. Spain continues to be one of the most popular destinations for July and August, with 42.9 per cent of Norwegians booking their holidays here, followed by 17.6 per cent of Swedish and 14.6 per cent of British.

Reservations through Belvilla for July and August shows an increase of a massive 278 per cent for national destinations compared to April last year.

The Spanish have 32 per cent of bookings for the summer, while the Dutch have 22 per cent, Belgians have 14 per cent, the French have ten per cent and the Germans have eight per cent. It has been said that almost 94 per cent of Spanish holidaymakers are choosing Spain as their destinations for July and August.

In May and June, 31 per cent of the bookings in Spain are from the Netherlands, the Spanish are at 30 per cent and the Belgians and Germans are at around nine per cent.

Belvilla carried out a study at the beginning of the year, with 42 per cent of those who took part saying that they planned to travel this summer and 35 per cent said that flexible cancellation policies would encourage reservations, this new information confirms the conclusions of the study.
