RUSSIA demands an apology from President Biden as relations between the two countries remain ‘very bad.’

Russian leader Vladimir Putin has called for an apology after US President Joe Biden called him a ‘killer’ and said that he was ‘without a soul’ during an interview with ABC News. Speaking with a state news outlet on Thursday morning, March 18, Putin said that ‘it takes one to know one’ and rather chillingly wished for President Biden’s ‘good health.’

Putin’s official spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, said it was a ‘very bad statement by the US president’ that made it clear that ‘he doesn’t want to normalise relations’ during a conference call with reporters on Thursday.

‘He clearly does not want to improve relations with our country, and we will be proceeding based precisely on this,’ Peskov said.

‘There hasn’t been anything like this in history.’

The US President’s comments prompted Russia to take the unprecedented decision to recall their ambassador, a watershed moment in US-Russian relations according to deputy chairman of parliament’s upper house, Konstantin Kosachyov.

‘I suspect it will not be the last one if no explanation or apology follows from the American side,’ Kosachyov said in a Facebook post.

‘This kind of assessment is not allowed from the mouth of a statesman of such a rank. This kind of statement is not acceptable under any circumstances,’ he added.

President Biden has vowed that his new administration will take a tougher stance toward Russia and the ties between the nations have become more and more strained in recent weeks, with Biden promising that Russia’s leader would be forced to ‘pay a price’.
