RESIDENTS of Minneapolis, in Minnesota (USA), were met with a peculiar image in Theodore Wirth Park, when they saw a caveman encased in a block of ice.

Exciting as this could have been from a historical point of view, it is actually the work of artist Zach Schumack who says he put it there so that people would “get off social media.”

Schumack is the owner of the creative agency Leonic, who created the sculpture last year for an event which was “very successful”, but then the work ended up in his garage.

It was then that he decided to give people something positive to talk about, having talked with colleagues about putting it in the woods for fun for some time.

This is why it appeared in the park with no prior warning and Schumack’s hope is that it encourages people to “get out there, go to parks, hit the trails and explore them”, rather than just sitting around.

So far, his idea has been successful in the area and the caveman has received many curious visitors. For anyone who can’t travel so far, photos are available… on social media of course!
