MAN ambushed in cab is shot dead in ANOTHER New York shooting
Diego Vasquez, 27, was killed when gunmen opened fire on the cab he was travelling in just before 1:30am on Sunday, November 1 in Elmhurst, Queens.
Police sources say the cab was ambushed by a gunman on a moped as it travelled northbound on Broadway. The moped pulled up alongside the cab as it stopped at a red light at 81st Street and the bike’s passenger fired several shots through the rear window.
An ambulance rushed the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was pronounced dead, the NYPD said.
The alarming spike in shootings this year has seen a number of innocent bystanders injured — including an 8-year-old girl and her father who were wounded when a gunman opened fire during an argument outside a Harlem supermarket on Saturday night.
The NYPD said that the cab driver was uninjured and was cooperating with police; however, it is still unclear what provoked the shooting and no arrests have yet been made.
