Granada in Spain Told to Prepare for Curfew and Lockdown from Monday

Share

The Junta de Andalusia has decreed the perimeter closure of Granada and thirty-three other municipalities of the metropolitan area for 14 days starting from Monday.

The decision was taken Friday night, October 23, after an emergency meeting with ministers and health officials from the Junta de Andalusia and representatives from the region of Granada. This comes a week after the closure of bars at 10:00 pm and the limitation of groups to six people, the perimeter closure will take effect from 08:00 am on Monday and will last 14  days. The proposed curfew will be applied in urban centres and will commence at 11.00 pm at night and terminate at 6.00 am in the morning.

The Supreme Court of Justice for Andalusia has still to ratify the ruling but it is understood that this is just a formality. The decision was taken due to the number of infections per 100,000 rising above 900. In fact today, that rate was recorded at 977, a number that prompted the fast-track lockdown application.

Once the document has been released by the official gazette, the BOJA, from the Junta de Andalusia web site, a full description of the rules concerning the lockdown in Granada will be published.
