Decision on a new State of Alarm expected tomorrow after an extraordinary Government meeting.
The Spanish Government is rapidly moving towards approving a new state of alarm as eight regions make a formal request for the measure.
It is expected that an extraordinary meeting of Government ministers will occur some-time on Sunday, October 25, to approve the measures.
On Friday, October 23, the Government was inundated with requests from the autonomous regions of the country to decree a new state of alarm. The new state of alarm would be implemented to give regions the ability to apply local curfews in their areas, typically being proposed from around midnight to 6am.
The meeting had already been on the cards for Tuesday however, due to the increase in urgent requests from local governments, the meeting is expected to be brought forward.
It is expected that the new state of alarm, once approved, will be implemented almost immediately on Sunday, October 25.
