Ulster Bank

THE Irish Times suggests that one of Ireland’s biggest retail banks, Ulster Bank could be closed down by its UK based parent NatWest leaving up to 2,800 staff in Northern Ireland and the Republic without jobs.

Unions who were in discussion with NatWest over the possible redundancy of up to 10 per cent of the staff appear to have been caught unawares and although there have been rumours in the past of a sale, there are no obvious purchasers in the wings at the moment.
