Relief for bars, restaurants and cafes on Spain’s Costa Blanca as capacity is increased

Bars, restaurants and cafes on Spain’s Costa Blanca can increase inside capacity to 75 per cent and reduce social distancing limits on their terraces.

THE President of Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, has agreed today in a meeting with the Minister of Finance, Vicent Soler and the regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer, to slightly increase trading opportunities within the hospitality sector.

Until now, establishments have had to enforce a two-metre distance between tables on their terraces. This has been reduced to one-and-a-half metres.

And the maximum capacity has also been increased to 75 per cent to bring Valencia Community into line with other autonomous communities.

Colomer said: “From absolute prudence, we do not want to be more than anyone else but, of course, not less than anyone else either.”

The regional government is also working on two “powerful promotional and support campaigns” in the low season, specifically from October 1 to December 15, and from January 7 to Easter 2021.
