Madrid has been one of the worst affected regions since the beginning of the pandemic so yesterday truly was a steppingstone in terms of its progression towards the ‘new normality’.
On her social media, Ayuso announced the “big news” that “yesterday was the first day that Madrid registered no deaths from Covid-19”. She insisted that if everyone works together “they can ensure that this nightmare never repeats itself”.
Thousands of people have died in Madrid since the beginning of this pandemic, the region has recorded 9,189 deaths in the hospitals and over 70,000 cases of the coronavirus.
Although the crisis seems to have stifled in Spain, it is actively spreading like wildfire across the globe. The most recent data shows that there are now 10.5 million people infected, with countries like the United States, Russia and Brazil being the worst affected.
