BA are currently the only airline flying into Gibraltar Credit: Gibraltar Government

THE Gibraltar Government has confirmed today (June 19) that air travel restrictions into Gibraltar due to Covid-19 will be lifted as from Sunday June 21, 2020.

All incoming travellers with valid travel documents will be allowed entry into Gibraltar via the Gibraltar International Airport which is currently served by regular British Airways flights.

The government notes that in Spain, the State of Alarm declared on March 14, will end on the same date, June 21 and from this date, Spain will reopen its borders to European Union and Schengen-area countries with the exception of Portugal where the restrictions will continue to apply up until July 1.

What is not clear at this stage is whether Spain will allow all visitors to return to Spain, if they are not cross border workers or have Gibraltar ID or right of residency on the Rock.
