Lowering risk of wildfire in Finestrat’s rural areas by clearing verges as summer temperatures rise

VERGES CLEARED: Easier driving and lowered fire risk credit: Finestrat town hall

FINESTRAT town hall is clearing weeds and undergrowth from the verges in rural areas.
This serves a double purpose Public Works and Projects councillor, Jose Vicente Lloret explained as he supervised work in the El Realet district.
His department was concentrating on the rural zones nearest to areas of particular scenic and natural value not only to ensure that roads were clear for drivers but to eliminate potential fire risks, he said.
As summer approaches and temperatures rise it is vital to take all possible precautions to prevent wildfires in rural areas, Lloret added.
