Leader of Vox Party in Spain Says Deputies Should Be Drug Tested Before Plenary Sessions

This Sunday, the leader of Spain’s right-wing party Vox, Santiago Abascal, assured that he would have no problem “being frisked” at the entrance to the Congress of Deputies and has indicated that “it would also be good” if deputies were submitted to a “drug test” before to going to the plenary sessions.

In a message published on his social media, the leader of Vox insisted that he has “no problem being frisked when entering Congress.”

“Furthermore, looking at the partners of the government of Sánchez and Iglesias, I think it would be advisable for everyone to have to go through a security control for weapons and explosives,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

He then noted that deputies should be subjected to an “anti-drug test” before they may access “the Plenary sessions”.

Abascal was referring to a Compromis spokesperson in the Senate, Carles Mulet, who, on December 18, requested a series of documents from the Government to know “in full detail why” Santiago Abascal had the need to carry a small weapon with him.
