A QUICK-THINKING off-duty Guardia Civil officer proved to be an invaluable help to a woman who fell and hurt herself quite seriously in a street in Laujar de Andarax.
The officer happened to be on Calle Villa Espesa, which is currently undergoing works, when he saw the middle-aged woman stumble and fall to the ground.
She suffered an open fracture to her arm, which was bleeding profusely.
The officer dashed over and immediately whipped off his t-shirt to wrap round the wound and stem the flow of blood.
Given the severity of the accident victim’s injury he called for medical assistance.
She was taken to the Poniente hospital, where she underwent an emergency operation.
