AS French citizens enjoy their first few days out of lockdown they begin to witness what may become the new normal. In the clothes shops and boutiques on Paris’ Champs-Élysées, shopping has become a little different. There are now queues outside the most popular stores to allow social distancing inside and should you find something you wish to buy, you may not try it on but instead you can take it home, try it and if you change your mind it can be returned to the store where they will disinfect it. In a scarf shop, a salesperson tries on scarves for a customer and if the customer likes it the store will then disinfect it for them.
As you can tell it is a very different shopping experience, but who is to say if it will put shoppers off?
Of course it is nowhere near a regular day but the area is surprisingly busy and shows that maybe the French residents are ready to push back to whatever normality they can.
