VALENCIA’S Health Minister, Ana Barcelo, revealed this Monday that six people had died in Alicante Province in the last 24 hours due to the coronavirus.
It’s the third successive day of falls in the death rate, bringing the total to 269 people who have lost their lives during the pandemic.
Eighteen people passed away in the previous 24-hour period, which in itself was a 40 per cent drop in the number of deaths.
The slowing death rate and new case is being mirrored by the national figures with the State of Alarm restrictions, which have been in place for three weeks, appearing to have a major effect.
There have now been 2,673 recorded instances of Covid-19 in Alicante Province, with 46 new cases logged since the previous regional update on Sunday morning.
That Sunday report revealed 114 fresh cases.
Barcelo revealed that local hospital admission rates are falling slightly with 639 people currently being treated, of which 141 are in intensive care.
No specific breakdowns for local municipalities or health areas were provided by the minister.
