Official help at hand during lockdown, credit: Alfaz town hall
HELP and advice are still on hand for gender violence victims in Alfaz. Equality Rocio Guijarro reminded residents that this is one of the essential services still guaranteed and available during the State of Alarm. Under the newly-introduced lockdown regulations, organisations, associations, groups and other services that offered help prior to the Covid-19 emergency should still be available, the central government announced. This was one of the urgent measures rushed through to protect victims of sexist violence in the royal decree published in the Official State Bulletin (BOE) of March 31. Women are guaranteed information and legal advice 24 hours a day on the 016 helpline as well as a new WhatsApp service providing psychological support. In an emergency they should call 112, 091 or 062. In cases where women and children are in need of shelter, this is still available to victims of gender violence, sexual exploitation and abuse. The competent public administration are also authorised to use tourist accommodation when this is not available in the usual centres.
