One hospital in the northern Italian city of Bergamo, one of the areas hardest hit by the coronavirus in Italy, has announced that they have run out of beds in intensive care.
Bergamo has been at the forefront of the coronavirus emergency in Italy. The number of those affected can be seen in a video posted on Twitter which compares the obituaries in the local newspaper from 9th February and 13th March. The former has a page and a half of deaths listed, while the latter continues for ten pages.
The Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo has now stated that all of its 80 beds in intensive care are full. New cases of the coronavirus who need emergency medial help will now have to be transferred to other hospitals.
