EACH Saturday throughout March, native English and Spanish-speakers can meet to practise their language skills in the Costa Blanca resort. Jornadas Tandem, the free get-togethers organised by Benidorm town hall’s Foreign Residents’ department and the Polifani insurance company, will be held at the La Torreta social centre between 11am and 12 noon.
“We feel that initiatives like these can encourage cultural exchange and, especially in this case, the local British community’s integration,” Foreign Residents councillor Ana Pellicer said. “The Jornadas Tandem will also serve as a pilot scheme to gauge the interest and demand for this type of activity amongst Benidorm’s different groups and communities,” she added. Pellicer also pointed out that the La Torreta Social Centre was an ideal meeting place, as so many British residents live in the Rincon de Loix and the area’s campsites. Readers wishing to take part should first register on the https://polifani.com/jornadas-intercambio-linguistico website, the councillor added.
