La Lira Musical Society of Alfaz del Pi celebrates its 40th anniversary in Costa Blanca

The first event will be an ensemble of woodwind instruments at 12:00 pm on March 28 at the Roman Village of l’Albir.

La Lira Musical Society celebrates its 40th anniversary in Costa Blanca with a series of novelties and events as a tribute celebration. Commemorative events have begun with the presentation of the new logo, created by Vicenta Baldó Pérez.
The mayor of Alfaz del Pi, Vicente Arqués, congratulated all the members of this great family, and highlighted the importance of associations in the municipality, with associations such as La Lira, which turns 40, the Norwegian Club, with 50 years of history, or the Dutch Club, with 45 years. According to the mayor, this coincidence of anniversaries “means that we have a historical journey”, to which the associations and collectives, such as La Lira, contribute a great cultural wealth.
The programming that the association has prepared is basically musical and will be extended throughout the year. During 2020 a cultural week will be celebrated in honour of Santa Cecilia, the patron saint of musicians, a tribute to the board of directors that have been part of La Lira during these four decades, and the exceptional concert celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Musical Society , which will take place on October 17 at Les Escoles Velles, the same place as its first concert in 1980.
Also, the first act of commemoration of the anniversary will be on March 28 at the Roman Village of l’Albir, with an ensemble of woodwind instruments at 12:00 pm. In addition to the traditional concerts and parades that the municipal band already performs every year on a regular basis, such as the Christmas concert, Estiu Festiu on the l’Albir beach or the end of course auditions, this year also various ensembles have been prepared , collaborations with other municipal bands, such as that of Altea la Vella or festive days for members and musicians.
In addition, on May 30, Alfaz del Pi will host the Regional Festival of Youth Bands on the esplanade of the House of Culture. Likewise, La Lira Musical Society will make a body awareness workshop available to musicians on June 13 to improve postural health during the use of musical instruments.
