Support groups for Alzheimers and Dementia on Spain’s Costa del Sol

Dedicated programme available: Ensuring the best welfare for families and patients Credit: Age Care, Calahonda

ON Monday, 17th February, The Alzheimers and Dementia Support Group, Mijas Costa were joined by AFA Fuengirola and Mijas to talk about the services available in their centre in Los Pacos, the work they do to maintain cognitive function in those affected by dementia and the help that is on offer to carers and their loved ones. AFA has a dedicated programme for dementia patients who can attend their day centre, use their facilities or have access to their knowledge and expertise. The AFA Association was founded at the beginning of 2003, with the primary objective of ensuring the best possible welfare for all families that are suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. The Association aims to promote the quality of life of family members and patients affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias; for this, psychological and social support is offered to both groups within the English speaking community.
