ESTEPONA COUNCIL in collaboration with the Association of Chiringuitos de Malaga (Achima) are to ensure that the town ́s beaches will be much safer, as defibrillators are to be installed in different establishments. Restaurant staff will be trained in the use of the equipment which could mean the difference between life and death and by keeping those who have suffered heart attacks stable whilst emergency services arrive could make all the difference. In addition, the council with the Civil Protection Unit will train staff to deal with other life-threatening problems in the case of loss of consciousness, choking or bleeding again to keep those affected, breathing until medics arrive. The council is committed to the safety of residents and tourists and has since 2014 been installing defibrillators in sports centres and facilities around the town as well as public halls and two Civil Protection vehicles.
