THE Plataforma en Defensa de la Sanitat Publica (Defence of Public Health care Platform) has criticised failings in Costa Blanca healthcare. Although the Plataforma’s principal concern was the lack of a second health centre for Denia, a recent statement also drew attention to the need to extend the Calpe centre. Marina Alta healthcare was outsourced to Marina Salud in 2009 and according to the conditions of its contract, Denia’s second health centre and the Calpe extension should have been up and running by 2010, the Plataforma claimed. “By failing to protect the interests of the populations of Denia and Calpe, both Marina Salud and the regional government’s Health department are causing great harm to users in both municipalities,” the Platform declared.
