Woman murders newborn baby in Spain’s Madrid by stabbing child nine times

THE woman who killed her newborn baby by inflicting a total of nine stab wounds to their body will face trial at the Provincial Court of Madrid in Spain next week.

The horrific murder was carried out by a 16-year-old girl and sent shockwaves throughout the country, with the prosecutor asking that the now 18-year-old woman receives 22 years in jail.

The teenager, who at the time lived with her boyfriend’s parents, gave birth in secret at their family home in Madrid, with a baby girl born in good health. A short time later, the new mother took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her newborn nine times, penetrating the little girl’s heart, diaphragm and lung, causing the child to go into cardiac arrest before dying a few minutes later.

After murdering her daughter, she cleaned the bedroom, took a shower and lay down, before discarding the body of the baby and the placenta in plastic bags. She then hid the dead child in a backpack in the room.

The case was uncovered two days later when the teenager was admitted to the Prince of Asturias hospital in Alcalá de Henares for a genital tear and vaginal bleeding. When going through her personal belongings in the bedroom, her boyfriend’s mother found the dead baby inside the bag, reporting the crime to the police.

As Euro Weekly News understands, the trial is set to commence on Tuesday, February 18th.
