Spain's Nerja City Council Approves the Municipal Registry of Applicants for Council Housing

Nerja’s City Council Approves the Municipal Registry of Applicants for Council Housing

Nerja’s city council has recently approved the ordinance regulating the municipal register of applicants and the process of awarding subsidised housing.

The proposal has been supported by all political groups in the corporation, except for the Socialist Party, who voted against it.

The purpose of this agreement is to reactivate the council housing claimant registry, which is the necessary and essential tool for the allocation of this type of housing. It will also provide updated information to plan, according to needs, the housing policies to be developed by the Administration.

The proposal had been initially approved in the plenary session of October 2, with the support of all but the Socialist Party, who already voted against it and filed an appeal for reconsideration. The appeal was rejected at the recent plenary session.

The Councillor for Housing, Nieves Atencia, disfavoured the stance taken by the Socialist Party which has ultimately delayed, by several months, the allocation of the council houses to families in need.
