THE insensitive video was recorded whilst the England midfielder was in an airport departure lounge on Saturday.

The video, which showed Alli wearing a face mask and appearing to mock an Asian man was subsequently deleted after several complaints were made, with Alli issuing a statement on Sunday evening in which he admitted he had “let myself down and the club”.

According to the Guardian, the message in the video posted on Dele’s Snapchat account, was: “Corona whattt, please listen with volume.” The video then zooms in on a man of Asian ethnicity before then being focusing on a bottle of antiseptic hand wash captioned: “This virus gunna have to be quicker than that to catch me.”

After removing the video from social media, Alli did another video reportedly released on the Chinese social media platform Weibo where the midfielder publicly apologises for his distasteful video stressing what he had done “wasn’t funny” and that that coronavirus “isn’t something that should be joked about” Adding at the end of his apology that he was sending all his “love and thoughts and prayers for everyone in China.”
