TORREMOLINOS council is promoting the adoption of abandoned dogs and cats found in the municipality.

The local authority’s website www.torremolinos.es now features a specific banner to encourage people to give a dog or cat a home.

“For some time we have had the intention of making it possible to adopt animals picked up by the Torremolinos animal collection service through the website”, commented Environment councillor Antonio Ruiz.

The councillor explained clicking on the link on the council web page connects with the https://www.cuidayadopta.es/adopta-una-mascota/macotas-en-adopcion/advanced-search/346 site featuring all the dogs and cats up for adoption.

Ruiz also gave an advance of results relating to abandoned animals, reporting that none were put down last year.

“We are very close to achieving zero sacrifices at our facilities”, he said, adding he believed there had been major steps forward in the last year.

Some 40 dogs and 50 cats have been adopted over the last 12 months.
