CALPE’S Telegram messaging channel now has 840 subscribers. This is more than was expected, municipal sources disclosed, bearing in mind that Telegram is less-used than WhatsApp. It is also the town hall with the most-subscribed Telegram messaging service in Spain after Vall d’Uixo (Valencia), which has 1,700, and Sueca (Valencia) with just over 1,500. There are 71 town halls in Spain that use Telegram for direct communications with the local population and Calpe has more than big cities like Sevilla, Badalona and Giron, the same sources said. Although fewer town halls use Telegram at present, the number is steadily increasing now that WhatsApp banned bulk messaging last December.
