ENRIQUE ESCRIVA, spokesman for the Ciudadanos party called for a town hall allocation for the underwater meadows of Posidonia Oceanica. The municipal budget should cover the annual cost of protecting Javea’s coastal flora and fauna, and also monitor the Neptune Grass seaweed that supports marine wildlife, Escriva said. Speaking at the last plenary council meeting, the Cs councillor also drew attention to the Cala Ambolo beach, officially closed in 2006 owing to rockfalls. The Ambolo beach is ranked amongst the best 50 beaches in Europe, pointed out Escriva, who wanted details of the progress being made there by the local, regional and national administrations to make it visitable once more.
