COLLABORATIVE working between Grant a Wish and Spread some Sunshine resulted in 85 items of children’s winter clothing, including cosy coat, body warmers, jeans, jumpers, scarves and hats being passed on to Red Cross in Javea for families most in need.

Helen Davis founder and fundraiser for Spread some Sunshine said: “We raise money to feed families in Sri Lanka and children in care, currently we are building a mini community centre in Ambalangoda, that will act as a food bank. One of the many ways we raise money is selling on donated items at rastros and charity shops.

“Due to the generosity of local mums, I had many unsold children’s winter coats, all in excellent quality, and I contacted Jody Founder of Grant a Wish who very kindly agreed to purchase the coats and other clothes from us. The money was transferred directly to Sri Lanka to purchase food for the poorest of families.”

Helen added: “I contacted Lorena at the Red Cross, Javea, who very much appreciated being offered the clothes for children so desperately in need in Javea, especially during the cold weather, and they will be distributed to where most needed.

“Sincere thanks to Jody and her team at Grant a Wish, both the Spread some Sunshine project and the Red Cross were able to help others in need. What a lovely way to give something back, this Triangle of Help with three local charities working together will hopefully be something we can continue to do in the future. Thank you to each and everyone of you who supports us all.

Any donated items for Spread some Sunshine, clothing, bric-a-brac, toys, jewellery  etc, can be collected by Helen Davis aba.helendavis@gmail.com or taken into Vila Mia near the BBVA bank.

You can support the charity by visiting Cafe Poco Loco in Javea on Friday, February 7, 3pm to 7pm, when there will be a sale of pre-loved but good quality children and baby clothes.  All of the proceeds will go towards the Spread Some Sunshine projects.
