CORONAVIRUS: another Chinese city on lockdown

China has imposed a lockdown on another city far from the region where the coronavirus epidemic began, as its death toll soars to 304 and the first fatality being reported outside of China.

the eastern city of Wenzhou, 500 miles from Wuhan with a population of 9million people, have been shut down by authorities, closing roads and confining people to their homes.

It has been confirmed that a man who was a 44-year-old has died in the Philippines.

China has embarked on unprecedented efforts to contain the virus, which is believed to have jumped to humans from a Wuhan seafood market, selling bats, snakes, birds and other animals.

The virus can be transmitted among people in a similar fashion to the flu.

10 days after locking down Wuhan, authorities imposed similar draconian measures on Wenzhou, a coastal city of nine million people in Zhejiang province, part of the eastern industrial heartland.

Internationally, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Israel have banned foreign nationals from visiting if they have been in China recently and have warned others from not travelling there.
