Day of mourning following the death of former Villajoyosa mayor

AN official day of mourning will held by in Villajoyosa tomorrow (Saturday) following the death of former mayor, Segovia Esquerdo, who has died aged 73.

Representing PSOE, Esquerdo held mayorship between 1986 and 1999.

He passed away yesterday after a lengthy illness, and his funeral will take place on Saturday morning.

The Town Hall paid tribute to the man who was instrumental in many projects, including the regeneration of Centro beach and Censal Park, and who ‘loved the people of Villajoyosa’.
