A criminal network that promoted illegal immigration from Malaga using false rental contracts has been dismantled.

The National Police, in collaboration with the Foreign Office have arrested 34 people in the towns of Malaga (18 people), Melilla (15) and one in Manacor (Menorca),. for their alleged involvement in the crimes of false documentation, favouring illegal immigration and belonging to a criminal organisation.

The investigation was initiated as a result of several reports that pointed to the existence of a group of people who were allegedly engaged in fraudulent activities to regulate the registration process of foreign citizens in Spain

The network was perfectly structured on three levels, each with its own distribution of tasks and roles within the organisation. The first one was formed by a Spanish and a Moroccan citizen who ran a business that they used as a centre of operations where they made false leases among other documents, as explained in a police statement.

The second level was made up of people who were the “alleged” tenants or landlords of the homes.

And finally there were the foreigners who would use these false contracts to apply for resident permits and thus be able to regulate their administrative situation in Spain, paying between 300 and 900 euros for the false leases.

As Euro Weekly News understands, all residential permits obtained fraudulently will be cancelled.
