ALFAZ’S Equality department launched the first edition of its young people’s Art Competition.
They are invited to design announcements for the different events for next March’s Alfaz’s Women’s Week, coinciding with International Women’sDay on March 8. The Equality, Youth and Education departments, who are collaborating on the initiative, want the municipality’s younger residents to express their concepts of female empowerment, equality, co-existence and respect between the sexes.
Announcing the competition, Equality councillor Rocio Guijarro, accompanied by Youth councillor Laura Sevilla, explained that the competition was open to all under-18s registered on the Alfaz Padron. Participants may base their entries on artwork or photography but can submit only one piece of work. Those choosing photography may retouch their work while artwork can consist of posters, comic strips or graffiti. Those choosing this last art form should submit a sketch and, if selected, would execute their work at a location chosen by the Equality department.
All those interested in taking part in the competition should send their designs to the igualdad@lalfas.com email address before 2pm on February 7th. There is a first prize of €100 in each category, with €75 for the runners-up with an additional €75 award for creativity. The jury is looking quality, inventiveness and the equality values that the entries convey, Guijarro and Sevilla explained.
