Scotland’s women’s rugby team triumphs over Spain ‘Las Leonas’ in Costa Almeria match

THE Scottish national women’s rugby team triumphed over Spain’s ‘Las Leonas’ in an exciting international staged at Almeria city’s Juan Rojas stadium on Sunday.
A huge, good natured crowd watched as the Scottish side dominated almost from the start to gain a well-deserved 36-12 victory, although the Spanish side made a great effort.
Scottish centre Hannah Smith stood out as the game’s top player, Spanish press describing her as like a “knife who knew how to find the holes.”
Spain’s defeat means the national team loses points in the World Rugby ranking, although the team remains in a good position to quality for the next women’s rugby World Cup next year.
