A WOMAN died after she was stabbed in the chest in Madrid in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The 46-year old of Chinese nationality was still alive when police acting on a callout from a passer-by found her lying on the ground seriously injured in the Parla district of the Spanish capital.

She passed away a short time after officers got her to hospital.

Police are reportedly not ruling out any motive for the stabbing, although the most likely hypothesis is that it was a robbery press said.
