JUST one month after Fuengirola was named as a municipality that is a friend to animals, it has been recognised again, this time by Travelguau, a travel agent that specialises in holidays for people with pets.

Ranked as the fourth most friendly holiday destination in Spain for those with animals, it is the only town in Andalucia to be placed in the top group by the agency.

One of the high spots of its participation at the Fitur tourism fair which takes place in Madrid from January 22 to 26 will be the presentation of this award by Travelguau.

Fuengirola is proud of its achievement and looks back to its efforts to make the town so pet friendly which included allowing animals on public transport with their owners since 2014, the introduction of four special pet areas in parks and the introduction of the first dog beach, with a second expected this summer.

With 15,000 pets officially registered in the municipality, ‘pet power’ is an important influencer and there are a further two dog parks planned plus other ideas to make life for owners and their pets happier are being considered.
