THE National Police has confirmed that a VOX party candidate was arrested for a brutal beating of a man in Spain’s Costa del Sol.

As reported by the police, the political candidate, named as Ismael Álvarez Sánchez, has been remanded in custody after he launched a violent attack on a colleague of his ex-partner on December 16 in Estepona in Manilva – an Andalusian municipality in the province of Malaga.

It is understood that the detainee was enraged after spotting the car of his estranged wife parked next to a vehicle owned by her coworker, which police state enticed his ‘rage and jealousy’. He then proceeded to approach the colleague who was standing outside of his car, striking him violently on the face before fleeing from the scene.

After being notified of the incident by witnesses who called the 112 emergency hotline, paramedics and police officers promptly arrived, finding the victim seriously injured.

He was then transferred to the Civil Hospital of Malaga where medical personnel reported that he suffered several fractures which required an immediate operation. It is understood that several screws were implanted into his face, where a spokesman for the Maxillofacial Surgery stated that he remained in the ICU for 10 days after the operation.

The aggressor had turned himself into the police station after officers launched a manhunt to find him, where he stated that he had acted out due to depression and that he had ‘lost his mind’.

As Euro Weekly News understands, he voluntarily withdrew from the Vox party who have subsequently condemned his actions. In a statement released after the incident they said despite his resignation, his expulsion would be “immediate, because VOX condemns violence.”
