Costa Blanca News: Naval museum in Benidorm

BENIDORM Council wants to boost its naval and marine history and looks to do it through a Classroom of the Sea that also serves as an informative space about the marine environment. This project will become the fourth museum in the area and will be located on the site left by the old villa of Martínez Alejos and in the middle of Paseo de Levante.
The Aula del Mar will have a total area of 200 square meters distributed in a central hall, an exhibition hall and another for conferences. In addition, it will have an outdoor garden of about 600 square meters in which activities can be held.
The project is subject to a concession which will allow the council to occupy about 1500 square meters of maritime-land for 15 years, extendable another 15, and for which there will be no fee to parties that manage the facilities directly. Costas has given the council 12 months to begin the works and another 12 to complete them.
So, they will have to run in 2020 and the first quarter of 2021, or they will lose that concession.
