Horror as one-month old baby in Spain suffers irreversible brain damage allegedly at the hands of their father

THE Mossos d’Esquadra have revealed today (December 31) that a one-month-old baby boy has suffered irreversible brain damage after being assaulted by their father in Barcelona, Spain.

As reported by officers working on the case, the young child had been admitted to Sant Joan de Déu hospital on December 19 suffering from seizures and showing serious signs of injuries. Since then specialised paediatric doctors have carried out extensive tests on the little boy where it was determined today that the child had been violently shaken.

At the time the child was taken to hospital, the father had explained to medical personnel that his son was in good health until he started to feed him. A few hours later he changed his version of events when questioned by police and said that the child started to choke when he was being fed his milk so he began to shake his son to help him breathe more easily.

Alongside their suspicions and the medical results received today, officers confirm that they have arrested the father who is of Dominican nationality on suspicion of child abuse. The mother who is of Spanish nationality has not been able to shed any light on the incident as told police that she was not home at the time.

As Euro Weekly News understands, social services have requested guardianship of the child whilst the investigation continues.
