TWO people have sadly died in the early hours of this morning (December 29) as a fire engulfed a property in Costa del Sol’s Cártama in Malaga, Spain.
As reported by the emergency services, two individuals, aged 70- and 75, tragically lost their lives in the blaze, while a 15-year-old has been transferred to the Regional Hospital of Malaga with serious injuries.
A resident in the area witnessed the fire rip through the home on Calle Moral just before 1am this morning, calling the emergency services for urgent help. According to reports, they saw thick plumes of black smoke billowing from the first floor, where a short time later several ambulances, the fire brigade and units from the Local Police and Guardia Civil arrived at the scene. It is believed that the elderly residents were pulled out of the fire, but were pronounced dead a short time after.
As Euro Weekly News understands, at present the cause of the fire is unknown with an investigation being launched by the police. According to the emergency services, psychological assistance is also being provided for the remaining family members who have been affected by this devastating incident.
