MIJAS council is seeking to modify its General Urban Plan so it can carry out improvements to a major bottleneck at the access of the A-7 to las Lagunas.
The council has plans to take traffic off the roundabout at the junction with the Camino de Coin towards the industrial estate by building deceleration lanes that means traffic will be able to connect directly on to the road, bypassing the roundabout.
Work will cost an estimated €763,000 and is intended to eliminate the long queues that can back up on to the main A-7, posing a safety risk.
